Read the Room

Privacy

Read the Room is a daily guessing game, played here at readtheroom.today and in the iPhone app. There is no account: we never ask for your name, email or any other personal details.

What stays on your device

Your guesses, results, streak and reminder settings are kept in your browser or on your phone. Clearing site data or deleting the app deletes them.

What we collect

To learn how the game is played, we record anonymous gameplay events: a round started, an answer was locked in, a round was finished, a result was shared, reminders were turned on. Each carries a random identifier created on your device, your time zone, the page that referred you, and whether you played on the web or iPhone. They are stored by us and by PostHog, our analytics provider. They are not linked to your identity, not used for advertising, and not sold or shared with anyone else. Like any website, PostHog receives your IP address and uses it to estimate your rough location (country and city); our own event table never records it.

On the website only, PostHog also records page views, clicks and session recordings, with anything you type masked.

Reminders

On iPhone, the daily reminder is scheduled by your phone itself; nothing is sent to us. On the web, turning on reminders stores your browser's push subscription (an address only your browser can receive at, plus its keys), your random identifier and your time zone, so we can send one notification a day. Turn reminders off or clear site data to stop them.

Children

The game suits all ages and collects no personal information from anyone.
